Comoros
The Comoros Islands lie between Mozambique and Madagascar and are made up of three volcanic islands, with the neighbouring Mayotte Island claimed by the Comoros but administered by France.
The islands are blessed with idyllic tropical beaches, magnificent scenery and exotic wildlife, and are set apart from other tropics like Mauritius and the Seychelles by their quiet and relatively untouched nature.
On the island of Grand Comore, visitors can climb the globe’s largest active volcano, Mount Karthala, and take in the elegant Arabic city of Moroni. Moheli island is known for the enchanting beachside town of Fomboni, its abundance of turtles, and its crystal-clear night skies.
Anjouan is home to abundant waterfalls and lush vegetation, and along with Moheli, is the only place where visitors can see the enormous endangered Livingstone fruit bats.
