Japan Rail Pass
Other FAQ's
You’ve just made one of the smartest decisions for exploring Japan. The Japan Rail Pass (JR Pass) is a cost-effective, incredibly convenient ticket that allows for unlimited travel on most trains operated by Japan Railways Group (JR), including the iconic Shinkansen bullet trains (with a few exceptions like Nozomi and Mizuho services which require a surcharge).
Whether you're planning to visit ancient temples in Kyoto, experience the neon buzz of Tokyo, or enjoy hot springs in Hakone, the JR Pass is your golden ticket to hassle-free travel across the country.
Designed especially for international tourists, the Japan Rail Pass is available in 7-day, 14-day, and 21-day options, allowing you to choose a plan that best fits the length and style of your trip.
Key Benefits of the Japan Rail Pass:
Unlimited Travel: Ride as much as you like on JR trains, including most Shinkansen, express, local, and limited express lines, as well as selected buses and ferries.
No Ticket Hassles: Avoid the stress of buying individual train tickets at each station. Simply show your pass and hop on board.
Flexible Itineraries: Change your plans without penalty. Whether you decide to stay longer in a city or take a spontaneous day trip, the JR Pass gives you total flexibility.
Convenient Seat Reservations: Make complimentary seat reservations at JR Ticket Offices (Midori no Madoguchi) to guarantee your seat during peak travel times.
Local Transport Access: Use the pass on JR-operated city lines like the Yamanote Line in Tokyo and Loop Line in Osaka, simplifying daily travel within cities.
Ferry and Bus Access: The JR Pass covers the JR Miyajima ferry to Itsukushima Shrine and some JR highway buses, further extending your travel possibilities.
